The short version

OddTick sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser. There are no accounts. You can read every page without giving anything.

The two places data does exist: the email list, if you choose to join it, and third parties whose code the site loads — charts, fonts, hosting and, in future, advertising. Those are listed below by name.

What OddTick itself collects

Nothing, directly. The site is a set of static files with no login, no shopping cart and no form other than the email signup. It sets no cookies and writes nothing to local storage — you can verify that in your browser's developer tools.

Hosting and traffic measurement

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical details of each request — IP address, browser type, the page requested, time — to serve the page and to block abuse.

Cloudflare Web Analytics is enabled, which counts page views. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not follow you to other sites. It exists to answer "did anyone read this," not "who is this person." See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Third parties the pages load

Loading a page contacts these services. Each one can see your IP address by necessity, and some set their own cookies inside their own frames — OddTick cannot read those.

The email digest

If you subscribe, your address goes to Buttondown, which runs the list. It is stored there, not on OddTick's own systems.

• Subscribing is double opt-in — nothing is sent until you click the link in a confirmation email, so nobody can add an address they don't own.
• Buttondown records standard delivery information such as whether an email was delivered, opened or clicked.
• Your address is never sold, rented, or shared. It is used for the digest and nothing else.
• Every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe. It takes effect immediately and needs no reply.
• To have your address deleted outright rather than just unsubscribed, email and say so.

Advertising

There are no ads on OddTick today. There will be — running this costs money and the site is free — so this section describes what happens when they appear rather than waiting until after.

Ads will be served by a third-party network, most likely Google AdSense. Ad networks and their partners commonly use cookies and similar identifiers to select ads, limit repetition and measure performance, and those identifiers may be tied to your activity across other sites. That is how ad networks work, and it's worth being plain about rather than burying.

You can control much of it independently of OddTick:

• Google Ads Settings — turn off personalised advertising from Google.
• YourAdChoices and NAI opt-out — industry-wide opt-outs.
• Your browser's own cookie and tracking-protection settings.

This page will be updated with the specific network when ads go live.

Affiliate links

OddTick may link to exchanges under a referral arrangement, meaning a commission if you open an account through it. Any such link is marked as a referral where it appears. It never affects what the data says or how the briefing is written.

What you can ask for

Regardless of where you live: you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. In practice the only thing held is an email address, and only if you subscribed.

Email hello@oddtick.com or write to the postal address on the contact page. Requests are handled by a person, usually within a few days.

Children

OddTick isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has subscribed, email and the address will be removed.

Changes

When this policy changes the date at the top changes with it. Anything significant — a new ad network, a new service handling your data — gets described here specifically rather than as a vague catch-all.
